Went out for a couple of beers with the housemates last night at our new local, the London Unity. All was good, nice summer evening on the longest day and all that. The dog managed to spill our drinks, but apart from that all was good. The girls were going to a reggae thing – I couldn’t be bothered because I never feel in a reggae mood at night-time for some reason.
So I trotted off home to watch the telly and the girls went to a cashpoint, got mugged by some guys in wrap-around shades and spent the rest of their night in a police station looking at photos of criminals. One of the pictures was Andy who lived in our house last year – I thought he was joking when he said he went out mugging people, but obviously not.

I came home from work the other week to find Amalia and Natalia discussing buying a private island and assuming it was a joke I headed off to bed.
Then I got back from work again to find that they’d been researching private islands and had found a few contenders. This is the best one by a long stretch, though we thought it was a bit expensive. This one is Amalia’s favourite, but I’d say this one looks the most promising overall. When we buy it I’m going to build a castle at one end and the girls are going to build an underwater palace at the other. Then we’ll declare independence and have a brief civil war to determine leadership.
The only problem I’ve thought of here is rising sea levels, but maybe we can get a discount or something,.

The week has started quite well in a few respects – firstly my computer was fixable by changing the bios, I found I’ve been underpaid and am due some more money and it’s generally been summer on the south coast. My bald spot is red as a result, so I’ll have to get some lotion from the 99p shop at lunch. Not complaining, though, I’m still far from bored of the summer.

Otherwise I’ve figured out finally the mystery of Michael Jackson. Check out these facts:

1971: He has his first solo hit with ‘Ben’
1977:Elvis Presley dies in Graceland
1982: Duets with Paul McCartney on The Girl Is Mine
1984: Begins to turn white
1994: Marries Lisa Marie Presley
2002: Rumbled as a perv
2005: Acquitted of being a perv

So, what do we get from all this?
Well, my theory is that ‘Being John Malkovich’ is actually based on a real scientific phenomenon. Presley instead of dying went into the body of the young Jackson and took over his life.
Think about it.
It has to be true.

Haven’t been having too much fun these last few days. First my computer went and died and now I have to send it off to be repaired (I’m writing this on D&A’s), then some cunt left their window open at an angle into the street, which I walked swiftly into the corner of. I’ve got bruises all over the top of my chest and had to go off to hospital today to make sure I hadn’t broken any ribs. Thanks that person, will be smashing your fucking window next time I see it in the way.

Bored out of my skull this weekend, I’d been planning to go out somewhere cool and get battered beyond belief. When it came to it though, nobody else wanted to and I’d somehow agreed to do five hours overtime on Sunday morning anyway. So I stayed in with Amalia and Natalia drinking port, watching The Graduate and having a bit of a smoke.
On Sunday I sat around reading Keep the Aspidistra Flying in the utterly dead call-centre in the morning, then went home, ate 24 mini onion bhajies and made some music. Liam’s bird was meant to leave but she missed her plane, not that they seemed to mind. Saw Bedazzled with D&A in the evening, really very good indeed.
Monday wasn’t quite so good in that I found out the entire summer is booked up for holidays and none are available. Which leaves me with two options, and I don’t need to go into those, do I?
I just booked up another week of overtime. All in all that means I’ve been at work every day since the 29th of May and won’t get a day off until the 22nd of this month, at the earliest. Siba says I’m going to go crazy or die, but I can hack it so long as I stay fit, get sleep and keep making money at the current rate. Then I can fuck off to the far east and never have to put up with shitty English jobs like this one again.

A nice couple of sort-of days off for me just went by involving strange three hour evening shifts and daytime inactivity. I was going to spend the time swimming but Tuesday’s trip to the pool was a sharp reminder of an otherwise un-noticed half term week. The place was full of unsupervised kids bombing and screaming and as much as I enjoyed reading “Lord
of the Flies” actually living it wasn’t much of a laugh, so staying in bed was a lot more tempting.
I did make it down to B&Q today though, to buy shelves and feel like a
man, looking at drills and so on.
Meanwhile in the house news (as requested by someone) Natalia has sprained her ankle and has spent the last week with her foot in a bandage, unable to work or walk. And Liam’s Italian bird is down for the weekend, so he’s occupied with that. That’s it really.

So, a decent enough weekend all-in-all. Went off with Duncan, Amelia & Charlie to the club apparently now known as “B-Low” (because it’s in the basement, so, yeah…) which despite the name was very cool. They played lots of very good music and then some more rubbish indie music, so I danced to the rubbish stuff to be consistent. Then we went and had a smoke in D&A’s back garden.
Not much more to report right now, except that if anyone wants to buy any records I’ll be putting them up here – not much yet but hopefully 35 items or so by this time tomorrow.

Oh, I almost forgot:

Arrived at work early this morning, ready for another tedious day, only to find that I no longer have a working login on the computers. No fixing was possible for a few days, so busy work had to be found for me.
So it was that I became a trainer for a day, wandering round the group of panicking trainees and telling them what to do when they put their hands up, though it’s only been 5 months since I was there doing the same thing myself. It was cool, more like hanging out with some teenage girls than real work. At 5 they all went off home, so I got to have a paid hour reading the paper in the coffee room. Shame I can’t do that every day.
