I put on my suit last Tuesday and went on a cruise downriver with the rest of the staff. We were apparently celebrating “International Women’s Day” which meant we all had food and entertainment while we sailed around Macau. As it was their day the women had to get up on stage, make speeches, dance and otherwise entertain us. We men had to give them flowers, not a great strain. Standing on the deck watching the lights of Las-Vegas-By-The-Sea float past while drinking free beer, I felt very glad indeed to be in China. The next day the event was headline first-page news in the local paper for a city of near a million people. I love this place.
