It was my 26th birthday on Saturday, so I called up work at midday, had a cough down the phone a bit, then went off with Duncan & Amelia for my birthday treat meal in the American-style burger bar. It was well cool. Then in the evening we went with Amalia and Natalia to the Smirnoff Experience at the racecourse after drinking a watermelon full of vodka. Saw the Infidels, who were a bit like Apollo 440 pretending to be the Strokes. They’ve got a song on an advert, so everyone cheered that. We tried to get upstairs to see Herbaliser but it was like the black hole of Calcutta up there so I went down to check out British Sea Power, who weren’t half bad – a lot better than on record, I’d say. As we left I bumped into my old boss Andrew, who told me loads of shit about how the office (doesn’t) work – pretty shocking, really. It took us half an hour to walk home as we got lost twice.

did bsp do mostly old songs or mostly newer?

    • I don’t really know their stuff that well, but it seemed to be a mix of all their albums as far as I can tell. It was a shame the sound was rubbish and the stage positioned so pretty much nobody could see them.
