Trapped on the metro last night with a few hundred hockey fans who liked jumping up and down. A scene from hell if ever I’ve seen one. Next to me stood a hockey family – the ten-year old kid wore a t-shirt that said “Skunk weed – the spliff with a whiff.” I ask you, parents these days..
Then I went to the Blind Eye & was persuaded to stay for more than one beer as expected. We thought of going up to Akropolis to join Johnny, who’s been banned from BE by Noah for no apparent reason, but they were playing UK garage and charging for it too. Again I missed trams and got home ridiculously late.
Woke up this morning to find Martin casually defrosting the fridge, which happened to be full of my food supplies, all highly perishable. I have no money to buy any more. My compensatory breakfast, a hot dog from the metro station, dripped fluorescent mustard all over me, my last clean t-shirt and my bag. Got to the old house in time to pick up stuff, but a phone call revealed Hamish wasn’t coming. Then I searched in vain for a video I need. It has gone, along with my records.
Everything went downhill from there.
I need a beer.

    Hey James,
Jan showed me your blog, and I finally got around to write something…blah blah, just wanted to say that I enjoyed meeting you in prague and that I’ve been reading your blog for the past few days (nosy bitch that I am!). Anyway, it’s good to know that I am not the only person having days like this, I got pretty stoic about it in the meantime! Are your shirt and bag fluorescent still?

No, I managed to wash them, thankfully.
Nice to meet you too, in fact all you crazy types. Tell me, did you get a lift home in the end?

        Re: Hey James,
Oh yes, everything went well in the end, but sunday was pretty dramatic. After returning to the flat we found Frank sleeping in his car, so we woke him up to find him still steaming with rage. Luckily (or not) I was too drunk to be upset, and kept giggling about the whole incident all the time, even when Frank and Izzy started fighting and shouting theatrically as soon as their door closed. What a night! Anyway, they ended breaking up, Frank cooled down and we were about to hit the road at 5 p.m. or so (after I had been sick beside the car twice, quite embarassing), when it wouldn’t start any more. So after trying various things to get it going Jan and I went to the next petrol station to call some service, and were just about to pick up the phone when the car turned up at the petrol station. What the hell had been wrong with it, I don’t know, perhaps it was our negative aura or someting! Anyways, after that everything went fine, and Frank and Izzy started cuddling again after a while…I love this! Since then, everything’s back to normal, I am studying for my exams and doing nothing much apart from that, so I can relate to the boredom you sometimes describe! But it won’t stay like that for very much longer, hopefully. Sad that you are leaving Prague, would have liked to meet you again. But I’ll just keep bothering you now and again here, if you don’t mind! All the best,
        Eileen
